The perfect summer night would not be complete without grabbing some good friends, wearing your favorite baseball cap, devouring tasty ballpark franks, and taking yourself out to the ballgame!
On August 2 you’ll be able to do just that when the West Michigan Whitecaps host a Purple Community night sponsored by Lake Michigan Credit Union. We’ll be rooting for the Whitecaps as they take on the Lake County Captains in the last of a four-game series. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and come ready to celebrate cancer survivors, honor the memory of those who have lost their lives to cancer or Parkinson’s and support biomedical research at Van Andel Institute.
There are so many fun things planned before the game that we are opening the gates at 6pm! The first 1,000 fans will be taking home their very own purple baseball, guests can strike a pose at our photo booth, or hang out with some stilt walkers in the concourse. If that wasn’t exciting enough, you can fulfill your hot-dog fix for the evening for only a dime!
What makes this event so special is that half of the proceeds from the evening’s 50/50 raffle directly benefit Van Andel Institute, where 100 percent of donations go directly to support cancer and Parkinson’s disease research and science education initiatives.
We are still in need of your help! Purple Community is looking for volunteers to assist in the 50/50 raffle collection during the game. If you, or anyone you know is interested in volunteering, contact Kennedy Piwowarczyk at Kennedy.Piwowarczyk@vai.org, or call 616.234.5767 for some more information.
