Earlier this month, members of Purple Community’s Team Hope participated in the TCS New York City Marathon! Runners filled the streets of the Big Apple hopeful and determined to fight against the diseases that have affected their loved ones most.
Some were running to fight against cancer, some running against Parkinson’s, and all were running to promote Purple Community’s mission of 100% HOPE!
Team Hope runner Aaron DeVos recently had the opportunity to reflect on his NYC experience.
“Running in (and finishing!) the New York City marathon was an exhilarating experience on many levels. As someone who enjoys running, loves a challenge, and has had several family members impacted by cancer – running a marathon in support of the life-changing work taking place at Van Andel Institute, brought it all together and exceeded any expectations I had.”
Our 2018 marathon season may be complete, but no worries- we will be back at it in 2019! To join Purple Community Team Hope in Chicago or New York in 2019, please visit our website!
