On Saturday, July 13, Purple Community joined in on all the fun at the fifth annual Standup for the Cure in Muskegon. This unique event inspires those with a passion for being active to come out and honor breast cancer survivors and help raise funds to support cancer research

Standup for the Cure is a nonprofit that raises money to help cover breast health services for underserved and underinsured women in West Michigan. This year, they added research to their areas of support.

To start the day off, they hosted a ceremonial procession in the water . Participants united together, sporting their pink jerseys, as they floated along Harbor Towne Beach in an iconic “Sea of Pink” to support the breast cancer community.

We are so grateful to all the amazing individuals who came out to raise awareness and funds for early breast cancer detection and treatment. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from this event were directed to support Van Andel Institute’s groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Standup for the Cure is making a local impact throughout the nation and bringing hope to those who have been affected by breast cancer. In the past five years they have brought in nearly $324,000 to end the fight, with the help of compassionate fitness enthusiasts and those who Standup for the Cure.

We are so excited to see what next year brings!
