Purple Community is striving to change the statistics found in this video. One way to work toward this change is to support the research happening at Van Andel Institute (VAI). But we can’t do it alone–we need you to help us.

On April 29 we’re hosting the 3rd annual Purple Community 5K, powered by Consumers Credit Union. If you are looking to get involved and support research at VAI, this is the perfect opportunity! We need volunteers to help set up the race course, register participants, check in runners and walkers, and help clean up after the race. We also have one very important position to fill–course marshal! Course marshals are responsible for ensuring runners and walkers are safe and following the correct route. This is great for pairs of volunteers who want to work together.

“This event would not be possible if it weren’t for the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to spreading hope,” said Allyson Huttenga, Purple Community’s student intern and volunteer coordinator for race day.

Whether you are someone living with a disease like cancer or Parkinson’s, have someone in your life who is, or if you just care about the mission of VAI we would be grateful for whatever time you have to offer.
