On February 10 and 11 we will be joining our friends at Southside Ice Arena for another Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC) weekend! We are eagerly awaiting spending the weekend at the rink as we work together to raise funds to support cancer research at Van Andel Institute (VAI). After being blown away by their fundraising total of over $75,000 in 2017, we cannot wait to see what this incredible community accomplishes in just a few weeks.

This year’s Hockey Fights Cancer weekend is going to be packed full of fun and exciting games and events. There will also be a fabulous raffle taking place. Raffle items will be displayed on the mezzanine level Saturday through Sunday (check out the event page for specific times). Raffle prize winners will be drawn after the puck drop during the All-Star game Sunday evening. The amazing prizes have been donated by each team participating in HFC and will benefit VAI.

The All-Star game will begin at 5:30 pm on Sunday, Feb. 11. This exciting charity game will feature former professional hockey players, including Fox Motors Hockey coaches Mike Knuble and Travis Richards! The All-Stars will face off against the Fox Motors Midget Minor U16 hockey team.

During HFC, Catholic Central High School will be sponsoring a free skate at Southside at 8 pm on Saturday, Feb. 10. Bring the kiddos and come skate the night away on the purple ice while fighting cancer — you won’t want to miss it!

To close out the weekend there will be a BBQ buffet thanks to our friends at Main St BBQ of Lowell, and drinks for those of age to enjoy beginning at 3 pm. Donations will be collected for both.

We welcome any and all caregivers, fighters and survivors to join us this weekend as well, to be recognized for their strength — continuously reminding us WHY we fight cancer. Please join us for a fun weekend full of hockey and show us your purple!
