For the past few months Purple Community has been partnering with restaurants, breweries and bars to support our Hops for Hope program. While each partner has a special reason to participate, for our November partner, JW’s Food and Spirits, Hops for Hope has an even deeper, more personal meaning.
To support Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month (the official awareness day is Nov. 17), JW’s has chosen to donate their proceeds directly to the pancreatic cancer research being conducted in Dr. Brian Haab’s lab at Van Andel Institute, in honor of JW’s founder Jerry Weavers.
Jerry Weavers established JW’s Food and Spirits in 1994 with the intent to eventually pass down the business to oldest his daughter and now current owner, Chris Weavers. JW’s has been a beloved Grand Haven favorite for many years, and we are so grateful to spread our mission with our friends along the lakeshore! JW’s has another personal connection to our organization. Our Purple Community intern, Allyson, is the grand-daughter of Jerry and niece to Chris. She is doing wonderful things with Purple Community and this is an example of her great work!
JW’s giveback beer this month is Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale. For every pint sold, JW’s will donate $1 to support pancreatic cancer research right here in West Michigan. Take a trip to the lakeshore this month and drink a pint for the cause! Remember, 100% of every donation goes directly to the research!
