When is the Purple Community 5K?
The Purple Community 5K will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The official start time of the 5K is 8:00 a.m.

Where is the Purple Community 5K?
The Purple Community 5K will be held at the Mary Free Bed YMCA.

How much is the registration fee?
Registration fees vary by participation type. To compare options view the “event details” section.

Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the event and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.

How can I register?

How long is the race?
The Purple Community 5K route is 3.2 miles. There is also a shorter route option for the Fun Run should you prefer a shorter distance. You may choose to walk or run either route. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.

How can I become a volunteer? 
The success of the Purple Community 5K depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the event and on race day. There are many ways you can get involved. More information coming soon!

Are pet and strollers allowed at the event?
Pets are prohibited from the event, but strollers are permitted.

What happens if it rains?
We reserve the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Purple Community 5K in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please plan and dress accordingly.

Does the Purple Community 5K require fundraising?
You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Every dollar raised makes a difference for people with diseases like cancer and Parkinson’s. 100% of all donations goes directly towards biomedical research and science education at Van Andel Institute to improving the health and change the lives of current and future generations.

Is there a deadline for fundraising?
All donations on your behalf that are received by May 30, 2017 will be credited to your fundraising total.

How do I form a team?
You can set up a team by going to our CrowdRise page.

One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?

Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?
We are unable to split or transfer donations between individual and team accounts.
