Grand Rapids South Christian High School and the South Christian Football Community is hosting their “Purple-Out” football fundraiser Friday, October 13, 2017 to raise awareness for cancer research at Van Andel Institute (VAI). The event features a varsity football game between South Christian and Middleville Thornapple-Kellogg. Both football communities ask that you come out to enjoy the game, balloon release, and other activities to honor those in your lives who have been affected by cancer.
The South Christian Community has been hit hard by coaches, friends and family members diagnosed with cancer over the past few years. They have also experienced the incredible hope and comfort that new and innovative cancer treatments provide for patients and families. Please join them in “tackling cancer,” by supporting this event through participation and donations to benefit research at VAI. 100% of the proceeds from this event will fund research into cancer and neurodegenerative diseases at Van Andel Institute.
“Purple-Out, South Christian vs. Middleville, Tackling Cancer” t-shirts are available online by clicking here. Limited shirts and Purple Community merchandise will be available at the game. Additional fundraising activities will be offered through a coin drive at the SCHS feeder schools, bake sales, and a balloon purchase and release at the game. Direct donations are also welcome! In the past, South Christian Purple-Out events have generated incredible support and enthusiasm for the game and cancer research. This year they hope to continue the passion and support by reaching a goal of $20,000 or more to support the work of VAI.
