We can hardly believe that we are just a few weeks out from the Bee Brave 5K on October 13! All proceeds from this scenic autumn race at Shagbark Farms benefit breast cancer research at Van Andel Institute!
Over the last 11 years, Bee Brave has grown to become a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about raising breast cancer awareness, supporting fighters, and honoring those whose battle has ended. It has become a haven of hope for those who need it, a home to share their courageous stories in, as well as a place to celebrate victories and triumphs over breast cancer.
For the last 3 years, Van Andel Institute has been lucky to partner with bee Brave through their golf outings, chili cook offs, wine and beer tastings, and of course their 5K. Earlier this year the Bee Brave team also had the opportunity to hear from Carrie Graveel, Ph.D. – one of our scientists currently researching breast cancer.
In 2017, Bee Brave raised $85,000 for breast cancer research. So far this year over $32,000 has been raised, almost halfway to their goal of $75,000. They also have an incredible $30,000 in matching gifts that will support the fundraising efforts of their Team Buzz runners!!
Help them reach their goal and help our scientists find new treatment and prevention options for breast cancer patients by registering for the race and fundraising! Every single penny raised goes right back to the labs at VAI here in Grand Rapids!
We hope to see you at the race on October 13! All runners, walkers and even virtual participants are welcome to join us for this great cause. Come on out sporting your pink and representing yourself or your loved ones who have battled breast cancer. Make sure you register soon!
