On Saturday, April 27, 2019, hundreds of runners, walkers and volunteers will take part in the 5th annual Consumers Credit Union Purple Community 5K. This event brings together families from across West Michigan to raise funds and awareness for cancer and Parkinson’s disease research happening at Van Andel Institute. Thinking of joining us? Here are five reasons we think YOU should register today for the Purple Community 5K!
HONOR OR REMEMBER YOUR LOVED ONES: The Purple Community 5K is more than just a race. This event provides a meaningful opportunity to honor or remember those in your life who have been touched by cancer, Parkinson’s or other diseases. Form a team to honor a friend on a cancer journey. Walk with your parent who is living with Parkinson’s disease. Make a donation for a course sign with a special message to honor or remember a loved one.
FUNDRAISE FOR A GOOD CAUSE: When you register for the Purple Community 5K, a fundraising page is automatically set up for you! This allows you to share your page on social media, encourage your friends and family to donate, and spread the word about this awesome event! There are tons of fun incentives including Purple Community gear and even an echo dot that you can earn! Click here for some fundraising tips and tricks to get you started!
SET A GOAL: Many people make a New Year’s Resolution to improve their health. If this includes you, consider running or walking in the Purple Community 5K! What better way to meet your goal than to participate in a fun-filled 5K for a great cause?
100 PERCENT HOPE: Every single dollar raised goes directly to biomedical research and science education at Van Andel Institute. Thanks to a generous endowment established by our founders, Jay and Betty Van Andel, every dollar from every donation goes directly to the cause — that’s 100% HOPE!
HAVE FUN: The Consumers Credit Union Purple Community 5K is an event where the whole family can join in on the fun! Whether you’re walking, running or volunteering, it will be a day to remember!
